Most exterior paint manufacturers specify application below 32-35 degrees ambient and surface temperature. Dubai summer routinely exceeds this; coatings applied in peak heat blister, peel, and fail within 2-3 years instead of lasting the expected 7-10.
When to paint exteriors
October to April is the safe window. Within that, pre-dawn starts allow surfaces to remain below threshold for the working day. Painters working in May-September are typically applying at surface temperatures that compromise the result.
When summer touch-up is unavoidable
Limit to small areas, use coatings rated for high-temperature application, work very early morning, and accept that the result will not match a properly-applied finish.
Why surface preparation matters more in Dubai
UV-degraded substrates, dust contamination, and existing salt residue all reduce coating adhesion. Power-washing, sanding, and primer selection make the difference between a 5-year and a 12-year coating life.
Dubai exterior painting plan
- Schedule major exterior painting October-April
- Specify UV-stable, high-temperature-tolerant coatings
- Power-wash and remove all salt residue
- Prime appropriately for substrate
- Two finish coats minimum
- Document the system used for future touch-up matching
Why this matters
Painted Dubai exteriors that should last a decade often last three because of season-and-prep shortcuts; getting it right once saves four repaints.
