Burj Al Wasl retrofits smart-home automation into finished homes in Amara, Plagette 32 & Serenity Mansions, Tilal Al Ghaf, adding lighting, climate, shading, security and audio-visual control without tearing open walls you have already paid to finish. We work mostly wirelessly, behind the switch plates already in place, and plan the system around the home's real electrical capacity.
Amara, Plagette 32 and Serenity Mansions are the newest releases, handing over from late 2026 into 2027, so the smart move is to plan the systems before the keys arrive. Retrofitting a finished home is a different job from wiring one during construction, and doing it well is about knowing what can be added wirelessly and what genuinely needs a wall opened.
Into a home that is already finished we add smart lighting and scenes, climate and thermostat control, motorised curtains and blinds, security, cameras and access, and multi-room and cinema audio-visual, brought together under one app and one set of wall keypads. Most of it goes in wirelessly, using the switch positions and backboxes already in the walls, so the disruption is measured in days rather than a second fit-out. Where a genuinely wired backbone gives a better result, we say so and plan the smallest, cleanest route rather than chasing every wall.
A retrofit leans on a wireless mesh, and the mainstream standards, Zigbee, Z-Wave and increasingly Thread and Matter, are designed for exactly this: devices behind existing switch plates and thermostat backplates that talk to each other and to a central hub. The one thing that trips up a naive install here is the building fabric: the reinforced concrete common in Dubai villas absorbs wireless signal, so a mesh that works in an apartment can drop out across a large villa. We design for that from the start with correct hub placement, mesh repeaters and, where needed, a wired backbone to the far corners, so the system is reliable rather than a source of daily frustration.
The capacity a home was handed over with was sized for its original loads. Layer a full automation system, electric shading, a pool heater or a cinema on top and the demand can outrun what the developer allocated, which shows up later as a tripping board. Before we add anything, we check the distribution board and the loads, and where an upgrade genuinely needs more capacity we make the proper DEWA application rather than quietly overloading a circuit. Getting this right at the start is the difference between a system that just works and one that trips every time the family is home.
Being honest about the limits is part of doing this properly. Lighting scenes, climate, shading, security and AV control retrofit cleanly and reliably. A few things, a fully rewired lighting topology, in-ceiling structural cabling for a wired backbone, or moving a distribution board, do need walls opened or a small amount of building work, and we scope that plainly with the quote rather than promising a wireless miracle and disappointing you on site.
A pure automation retrofit usually needs no building permit; where it involves electrical load changes or structural work, the relevant DEWA application and, for structural change, the Majid Al Futtaim community NOC via Belong and a Dubai Development Authority permit apply, all of which we handle. Many guides still name Dubai Municipality here, so we confirm the current route before submitting. One team surveys the home, designs the system, installs and commissions it, and shows you how to use it, with a fixed written quote after a free site visit.
These come from the relevant authority but are revised from time to time. Treat them as a starting point and confirm the current position for your property before you rely on them.
