Tree & Palm Supply, Planting & Transplanting in Dubai

Trees and palms give a Dubai garden its structure, its shade and most of its value, and they are the hardest thing to get right. We supply, plant and where needed transplant mature trees and palms, choosing species that suit the climate and the soil, planting them so they establish rather than struggle, and moving established trees safely when a garden is reworked.

Choosing the right tree for a Dubai garden

The best tree is the one that will still be thriving in ten years, which rules out a lot of what gets planted on looks alone. Palms and heat-adapted shade trees give structure and relief from the sun and cope with the conditions; delicate ornamentals are used sparingly and in the right microclimate. One species matters by its absence: the Damas tree, Conocarpus lancifolius, is prohibited in Emaar communities and restricted more widely across Dubai because its aggressive roots damage pipework and community infrastructure, so it never goes in a garden we build.

Planting a tree so it survives

A tree planted badly dies slowly and expensively. It needs the right pit and backfill, the soil prepared so the roots can spread, correct depth so the collar is not buried, staking that supports without strangling, and irrigation set up for establishment rather than for a mature tree. In saline ground and on recycled water, the soil preparation and drainage around the root ball matter even more. We plant to establish, not just to place.

Moving a mature tree

When a garden is reworked, a mature tree or palm is often worth keeping, and a healthy specimen can be transplanted rather than lost. It is a real operation: root preparation ahead of the move, careful lifting to protect the root ball, replanting into properly prepared ground, and aftercare while it re-establishes. Done properly it saves years of growth; done carelessly it kills the tree, so it is not a job to improvise.

Supply and aftercare

We source healthy, climate-appropriate stock, plant it to survive, and set up the care it needs to establish, as part of a garden built by one accountable team rather than a delivery dropped on a driveway.

Approvals, rules and what the law actually says

Authority requirements that can change

These come from the relevant authority but are revised from time to time. Treat them as a starting point and confirm the current position for your property before you rely on them.

  • Structural outdoor work at a Dubai villa needs an NOC from the master developer, such as Emaar, Nakheel or DAMAC, in addition to any Dubai Municipality approval, so that underground utilities and community sightlines are protected. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked July 2026)
  • Emaar communities apply a setback to permanent structures including pergolas, gazebos and pools, commonly stated as 1.5 metres from the boundary wall. Confirm the current figure for your specific community before designing to it. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked July 2026)
  • The Damas tree, Conocarpus lancifolius, is prohibited in Emaar communities and restricted more widely across Dubai because its root system damages underground pipework and community infrastructure. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked July 2026)
  • Nakheel may carry out a Villa Status Report survey before approving new landscaping on its communities. Unapproved work left by a previous owner has to be regularised before new approval is granted. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked July 2026)
  • Under the Al Safat green building system, Dubai Municipality expects new villa landscaping to use automated irrigation with rain sensors and efficient outdoor lighting. (Source: Al Safat Dubai Green Building System, checked July 2026)
  • Large Dubai landscapes are commonly irrigated with treated sewage effluent (TSE), recycled water delivered through a dedicated network rather than potable supply, as part of the emirate's water-conservation strategy. (Source: DEWA, checked August 2026)
  • Use of treated sewage effluent for irrigation is regulated and requires a permit from the competent Dubai authority specifying the approved use and quantity. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked August 2026)

What we typically see in the market

These are observations from working in Dubai, not rules. No authority publishes them as requirements, and your own contract or community may differ.

  • Treated sewage effluent carries a higher salt content than potable water, and under Dubai's high evaporation those salts concentrate in the root zone over time, which is why plant selection and soil management matter for a garden irrigated this way. (Source: DEWA, checked August 2026)
  • Master developers typically charge a non-refundable engineering review fee for landscaping submissions, with the amount depending on whether the work is cosmetic or structural. Confirm the current fee with your community before submitting. (Source: Dubai Municipality, checked July 2026)

Frequently Asked Questions

Palms and heat-adapted shade trees that cope with the climate and soil give structure and shade and thrive; delicate ornamentals are used sparingly in the right spots. The Damas tree is avoided, as it is prohibited in Emaar communities and restricted more widely for its damaging roots.

Yes. A healthy mature tree or palm can be transplanted rather than lost when a garden is reworked. It needs root preparation, careful lifting, replanting into prepared ground and aftercare, which done properly saves years of growth.

Usually poor planting: wrong pit and backfill, buried collar, unprepared or saline soil, or irrigation set for a mature tree rather than establishment. We plant to establish, with the soil and irrigation prepared around the root ball.
